Radiator/Towel Rail Valves
Most radiators are supplied without valves, so it is important that you have the correct one on hand. If your radiator is supplied with valves then it will say in the product description, but if it doesn't mention it, then you will need to purchase these separately.
Use the following guide to help you pick the right one....
If the Pipe work is coming out of the floor and the radiator has side connections, then you will need a set of Angled valves.
If the Pipe work is coming out of the floor and the radiator has underneath connections, then you will need a set of Straight valves.
If the Pipe work is coming out of the wall and the radiator has side connections, then you will need a set of Corner valves.
If the Pipe work is coming out of the wall and the radiator has underneath connections, then you will need a set of Corner valves.

Understanding BTU and Delta
What is BTU?
BTU stands for British Thermal Unit. It is a traditional unit of heat, defined as the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit. In heating and cooling contexts, BTUs measure the energy output of heating appliances like radiators, boilers, and air conditioners. The higher the BTU rating of a device, the greater its heating or cooling capacity, making BTU an essential metric for selecting appropriately sized equipment to ensure efficient energy use and optimal comfort in residential and commercial spaces.
Understanding the Delta T
Delta T (ΔT as it usually referred too), or is a measurement for the heat output of a radiator. The standard measurement in the UK for Delta in domestic gas boiler systems is Delta 50.
However, at Brand New Bathrooms, we supply Radiators and Towel Rails from a variety of different suppliers, and sometimes they give us the Delta information in different temperatures. So this means you will see some BTU's listed in Delta 50, Delta 60 and Delta 70 across our site.
To help you convert these numbers to your required Delta, there are conversion tables that you can use.
If the figures are listed as Delta 50, but you want to convert them to another measurement, then you would take the number from the Correction Factor table and multiply the original BTU.
So for example, If you have a heat output of 5000 BTU at ΔT 50°, then to calculate the BTU at ΔT60°, you would use the correction factor on the table below, which is 1.27 and multiply the 5000, which gives you a BTU at ΔT60° of 6350.
Delta T 50 (ΔT50°) Correction Factors
Required Delta T (ΔT) | Correction Factors |
75° | 1.69 |
70° | 1.55 |
65° | 1.41 |
60° | 1.27 |
55° | 1.13 |

20° | 0.3 |
15° | 0.21 |

Delta T 60 (ΔT60°) Correction Factors
Required Delta T (ΔT) | Correction Factors |
